Restaurants #8 /Karachi Darbar Restaurant, Bur Dubai/

From the series 'restaurants in Dubai'.
Today about Pakistani restaurant in old Dubai, to be more precise it is in Bur Dubai. Restaurant is located next to Dubai Creek, near the Dubai Old Souq Marine Transport Station - abra station. Abras are part of the public transport (photo below). About the Dubai Creek and the 'old' Dubai will write soon.

Coming back to restaurant - below you can see neon of Karachi Darbar Restaurant. It is a local chain of restaurants. There are several under this name in Dubai and the surrounding towns. It serves Indian, Pakistani and a little bit of Chinese cousine. The restaurant itself can not encourage to eat in because of the appearance, but appearances can be deceiving - the food is delicious!!! This is not just my opinion, everyone whom I took there was delighted!

When I first visited the place, tables outside were metal as it is now, but oil paint was peeling out. There were plastic chairs, filthy plastic chairs :) We were the only Europeans so they equipped us with a cutlery, all other guests were eating, as it is in their culture, with theirs hands.

This time, for the first time, we walked in to the room on the first floor, which is called 'Family de Lux' :) It has one major advantage - it has AC? You can call eating outside in mid-September, extreme sport, especially for tourists :)

Our order:
Hot and sour soup - 7 aed. Well seasoned with plenty of vegetables.

Prawn masala with KDR gravy - 20 aed

Butter Nan - 2,5 aed. I love it.

Two types of Tikka Masala (15 aed), chicken and mutton (both looks very similar so I place only one photo). Very hot, but eatable.

Chicken biryani (15 aed) served with gravy. Rice in biryani is seasoned with saffron.

I really don't know why I didn't takle a photo of my Palak Paneer - goat homemade cheese, in hot spinach gravy.

We orderes Masala Chai - like always. A cup of tea with milk and spices. It is prepared from the water, milk and spices - all you need is to boil water with milk and spices, then add the black tea leaves and boil it again - yummy!

Restaurants #7 /Saffron, Atlantis The Palm/

Saffron

One of the restaurants at Atlantis Hotel at Palm Jumeirah. The restaurant operates as  buffet. Serves meals in breakfast and dinner time and they have Friday brunch as well.
Dinner buffet costs 220 dirhams, price excluded drinks. From what I remember draft Tiger (big one) costs 45 dirhams and a small 33 dirham.

A fountain in the hotel lobby.

The restaurant itself looks a bit like a big canteen, but pleasant one. Between the tables are placed 'islands' of different cuisines. There are Thai, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, one with bread, salad bar, sweets and European island.

This in my plate after a visit on the Japanese Island. Delicious!

Thai Island

Chinese Island

Sweets Island

The choice is huge, I couldn't try all. But the palate was in heaven: D

There were some dishes that were distasteful - for example in the Chinese section - roast duck. I don't know how it was seasoned, but for me it was inedible, I couldn't even swallow it. Part of pasties were terribly sweet and biscuits used to dip in the chocolate fountain tasted old.

But generally, the food is delicious!

In Entertainer - Gold Edition (Dining) you can find voucher for this restaurant.

Camels

I love camels! They are really friendly animals. And in contrary to common opinion they don't stink! They love when you caress them at the nose :) Just like horses, have very delicate and soft fur on head - nose (don't know how to call this part of the camel body). In addition, they are curious, if thay can they will look up in your car and sniff everything :)

Mmm how nice! Scratch on scratch :)

I have wonderful eyelashes :)

This baby camel below, according to the owner or shepherd, is 'thamania ajum' which means eight days! He said that it would be a racing camel.

And here's the proof that camels are friendly. This lady camel even gave me a kiss :)

In Ras al Khor Wildlife Sanctauary you can find a lot of nice birds, but in my opinion flamingos are the most beautiful one :)

Here is the website http://www.wildlife.ae//en/index.php where one can find all informations about it.
