Rent cost is comparable to London. One bedroom is 50-70 thousand a year. Two bedroom 80-140 thousand. DWEA (Dubai Electricity and Water Autority) you have to pay separately (we pay around 200-300 aed monthly).

There are two internet and tlephone operators - Etilalat and Du - different offer and  prices, but in fact it is a monopoly, since both of these companies belong to the same owner. Voip calls are blocked because it would reduce the income of the above-mentioned companies.

Summer in Dubai...

Summer in Dubai is the period when most of the people live like vampires, leave the houses only after dark :) This is because during the day the heat is high, 44 degrees (Celsius) is a norm, and in addition very high humidity. Humidity increases after sunset and sometimes one gets wet immediately after leaving the building or vehicle.

Summer depression...

There is an interesting thing here - summer depression. Yes you've seen correctly, in Europe we have winter depression and here summer one - it is exactly the same thing, too little sun, and thus too little vitamin D produced in the body. In the summer, pharmacies here sells a lot of antidepressants and doctors recommend, despite the heat, going out for a while in the sun every day (of course with UVA / UVB protection).

Ski Dubai

What's to do during the summer months?
There are many things to do! One of them is Ski Dubai, the land of winter in the desert. It is a pretty cool place, maybe slope is not very long, but it gives fun of snowboarding or skiing. Well prepared, with two routes, snow park and other attractions. It has two lifts: ski lift and benches. The one with benches is quite slow, because it is using as well of those who came "explore" winter land. For some people visiting Ski Dubai it is theirs first time to see a snow. For those one who can not skiing or snowboarding there are ski schools as well.
In the middle of the slope you can find a bar called "Avalanche" - unfortunately they do not serve a drink like hot wine or bombardino.

Our last trip to Ski Dubai, unfortunately, ended with an injury for me :( As you can guess I got the back edge and landed on the ground. Broke the sacrum quite seriously. For several days I could only lay on my back! And my old neck injury has renewed :( But it won't  discourage me to next visit there!

The cost is 180 aed for a two hour drive, or 300 aed for the whole day. The price of each ticket include outfit (jacket, pants, shoes, socks), if someone wants to can also get a helmet (for children and one enjoying the snow park helmet is compulsory) and ski or snowboard. One have bring gloves, because it is not provided and a hat of course.

This is great fun, really! This year, one of our friend, coming to us on vacation,  took snowboard equipment with her, at least to have a little ride on the board, because she hadn't have a chance to go for a real riding in the mountains this year. And she was very satisfied!
