Saturdays off road

Off road

We woke up at 6 am today - this is something very unusual for us, bcoz we like to sleep a lot :) We had taken our sandbox kit and went to the biggest sandbox we have near our home :P We chose Fossil Rock area - sandbox there has really nice sand , bcoz its orange in color and sometimes (I heard that) you can find there a fossil of some animalcule, that was living there billions years ago when it was a sea.
Initially we had a lot of fun, no that’s not true… we had fun till the end. Climbing on dune after dune, than a little bit down and up again.
Before we reached Fossil Rock, unfortunately Indianka sunk into the sand. First we tried to dig her out with shovels and then try to come out, but it didn’t work. The worst thing was that she sunk in little trough where the sand was really loose. So we decided to try to pull her out with Randzi; unluckily Randi weights half of her and is a bit weaker than she… he really wanted to help us, but it ended up that had burned itself gearbox…
Hmm what to do, we had two cars, but one sunken into the sand and the second one ‘unconscious’.
We were in the middle of nowhere, with a limited supply of water… We could see some buildings, but 42C and "bang bang bang grinds his teeth in the sand, sun tan bellies, wind jerk our clothes ...'' we could sing this song and wait for salvation… or we could stagger through the sand to these buildings.
Suddenly I saw a car! Pawel went on the dune to call them. We have a saying in Poland ‘stupid one always has luck’. That was a car from RTA training group. They had stopped and tried to help us; but they almost sunk too. So they went for more experienced college who were nearby. This guy is a trainer and examiner of driving on the desert.
I have to say that he was real specialist. He pulls out Indianka and he towed Randzi to the road.
We said goodbye on the highway. We had taken contact details from him. If we have such problem in the future we will know whom to phone. However I hope that next time we will meet on picnic, not because of broken car. Really nice people.
Our adventure ended happily… we came back home and Randzi was carried to workshop on the lorry. Tomorrow they will fix him.
It wasn’t our last expedition to the desert for sure. I think that our sandbox kit will prove us that he was made for this a lot of times.
