In fact, it's not that first :) We flew to Dubai on 24 Feb 2011 at dawn. Unfortunately there was a fog, so we couldn't enjoy the view of the city during landing. In fact, the only building which pierced the fog was Burj Khalifa, but it is not surprising since it is 828 meters high. Even from the plane it is impressive (I didn't have the opportunity to see it standing at the bottom yet).
Actually, I've seen only Jumeirah area, we live in Dubai Marina now. This weekend we are going to Dubai Downtown...
The city is impressive, a huge and in constant construction. When you are going on endless streamers of highways you have that feeling that something is missing ... the city lacks of soul. I think that when all buildings will be finished and areas will be landscaped it is going to change, but for now it's basically concrete - steel construction site.
There are some places that have already finished and full of life, like residental districts of The Greens, The Vievs etc. Dubai Marina is partialy finished and really impressive! Great glass buildings on the marina with lovely yachts. For boats and yachts amateurs it's a heaven, but only for those one who likes motor boats. I didn't see even one sailing boat.
Few words about the weather in Dubai
At this time of the year it is very pleasant, 25 Celsius degree, sky is a bit clouded right now, but in the morning when I was on the walk, sky was pure blue. Evenings are a bit chilly for me (I love hot weather), so you have to have long sleevs.
For a week now I'm trying to buy a blanket, yeah yeah blanket :) I would like to have something to cover myself when I watch TV or read - but buying a blanket here it almost impossible. Maybe in Mall of Emirates I will find something :)

It's all for now :)
